A POEM A DAY 30

Blank spot on purpose

Blank spot on purpose

WE TWO

(For Her)

There was an instant connection

The moment she walked in the room

God planted her in the garden of my heart

And love began to bloom

I didn’t know her name

Or whence she came

The only thing I knew

Which turned out to be true

Was that she was gonna be hot mess!

But I loved her nonetheless!

One day in passing, I said to her,

“You can’t hide from me, I see you!”

Then, we stood there in silence

We stood there, we two

Suspended in stasis

Of knowing and understanding

Experiencing the expanding

Of a friendship in bloom

In a moment of resignation

She opened the tomb

To the soul that hid behind

Fake smiles and forced laughter

And happily-never-afters

In that moment she understood

That I had walked the same valley of shadows

And that I was not at all opposed

To wading through the muck and mire

If only to inspire

Her to take one step

Toward a new tomorrow

Where shame and sorrow

Wither in the light of grace

And yesterday’s but all erased

We stood there, we two

We stood in the silence

We stand here today

We stand in alliance
