A POEM A DAY 83

RUMOR

Rumors have ears that listen with intent
They spread like wildfire cause they don’t cost a cent
They freely flow from a pair of lips to another's ears
They travel rapidly to places far and near
The rumor changes subtly each time that it's uttered
Because words are added and the rumor gets cluttered
With lies and falsehoods that help propagate
And feed the flames so it will not abate
The thing about rumors, they need not be true
As long as the rumor is not about you
