SOUND OF SILENCE
To some The sound of silence Is deafening Because they cannot find retreat From the thoughts that move About their minds Like the scampering of feet They run from the silence In hopes of hiding From the blade of self-talk That is nagging and chiding It is silence they find frightening They prefer the distraction of noise They cannot comprehend The beauty of silent joys That come from deep within When one gets to know oneself It is like reading from the book of life That has been place upon a shelf Simona A. Brinson
