A POEM A DAY 153

LITTLE GIRL LOST

I looked in the mirror
And there, looking back
Stood a little girl lost
I looked into her eyes
And couldn’t fathom
Her burdens or the
Weight of their cost
But I could recognize
That look in her eyes
Because they were
The same eyes
That looked back at me
Lost and listless
Hopeless and distressed
A mind swirling
In a dark mental mess
