A Star-Spangled Night
I remember when the sun failed to shine and flowers didn't grow
When stars fell from the sky and the winds ceased to blow
When I stood staid and motionless and my heart wept and moaned
For love had lost her shimmer and her shine had turned to stone
But then one starless night I sat beside this soul
And much to my surprise, beside him I felt whole

And with the slightest touch, I remembered when…

The sun shined and flowers grew
When the skies were the brightest shade of blue
I began to feel the wind once more
Emotions long since buried danced upon the shore
Weeping and moaning turned to joy and delight
Love regained her shimmer on a star-spangled night
All because I sat beside this precious soul
And he became the other half of my whole.
