A POEM A DAY 183

genesis

When God did speak, the void was filled with light,
He shaped the heavens, spread stars across the sky.
With whispered breath, He crafted day and night,
And set the sun and moon to rise on high.

The waters parted, lands began to form,
Green fields and mountains, valleys lush and wide.
He breathed on dust, gave life in earthly norm,
As plants and beasts sprang forth to fill the tide.

Then from the clay, He sculpted humankind,
In His own image, breathed a soul so pure.
He gave us hearts and minds with love aligned,
To cherish Earth and all that would endure.

Creation’s song, a testament of worth,
In awe we stand, as God gave life to Earth.
