A POEM A DAY 265

SHALLOW

Guard your heart, you fool!
Don’t just dive in
To a shallow pool
Of convolution
And words polluted
With meaningless phrases
Of sweet nothings and lies
Cause it's all just a guise
Falsified and corrupt
Sharp and abrupt
Don’t be sucked into the
Deep darkness
Of deceit
Cause you'll be the one
Left holding the receipt
And he will have moved on
To the next unwitting fool
Who dove into
The shallow end of the pool
