A POEM A DAY 334

THAT MAN

I don’t want the love of a man
I want the love of
That man
Yes, him
I know he is broken
And battered and bruised
I know he has been
Pushed around
Neglected and used
All his life
He has never known love
Because the "love" he has experienced
Always came with a price
And was paid in pain
Just because he is unknown to love
Does it mean that he is
Underserving of love
Is it possible to salve him with love
In its purest form
And heal what appears to be necrotic
Can the lesions that surround his soul
Be mended
I say, Let love be thy medicine
Because love does not fail
It protects
It trusts
It hopes
And it perseveres
Always
