A POEM A DAY 350

FOOL’S ERRAND

Do I dare be a fool
For the sake of love
Is my love for him foolish
Or is it the notion
that he loves foolish
It must be the latter
Because my love is pure
It was given freely
And without expectation
The idea that he could love me
And pursuing it
Would be a fool's errand
He has only ever shown me
That he loves my favor
Loves my giving spirit
My forgiving spirit
Heart, do not go on the fool's errand
In hopes of reciprocation
Remember, he is a broken man
And try as you will
But he never can
Because love is unknown to him
