A POEM A DAY 363

FAUX

I am no fraud
I am authentically me
Yesterday
Today
And tomorrow
I will not change
To suit your fancy
Or bend to your
Whines or your moans
Don't call me friend
And then tail-tuck
And run
When you don't agree
With things that I say
If that be friendship
I'd rather be friendless
Why plant my goodness
On unfertile ground
Or cast my pearls
Upon swine
I have not the inclination
Nor do I have the time
To cultivate barren land
I am no fraud
I am authentically me
Yesterday
Today
And tomorrow
So, take your
Faux-friendship
And leave
