    RESTLESS

    My restless soul grows weary
    Of searching every night
For the man who stole my heart
And then fled and took flight
I have searched high and low
I have even asked the crow
If he has caught sight of
A man with a stolen heart
He said he had but refused to impart
The whereabouts of that brutish beast
    Lest he becomes tomorrow's feast

    FOOLISH MAN

You can't just come back in
    I have trust issues
    I've cried too many nights
    And used too much tissue
    Day after day
    I sat and I pondered
    How could a man
    Take for granted and squander
    Love freely given
    Without one condition
    And expect to come back
    Without the slightest contrition
    To this simple fact
    I must so concede
    A foolish man
    You are indeed!

    THE WOLVES

    How does one keep
    The wolves at bay
When they are on the hunt
    Night and day
    Where can I run
    Where can I hide
    From the prying
    Of their fiendish eyes
    I can no longer bear
The sounds of their gnarling teeth
    Lord, give me strength
    Please do bequeath
    For, I do not wish
    To become prey
    To the howling-pied-piper
    And be led astray
    To be ravaged
    Or abused
    To be discarded
    Or used
    By those wolves
    Whose only intent
    Is to use their guiles
    Without relent
    To deconstruct and destroy
Every part of who I am
    I refuse to be
    A willing lamb

    D-DAY

    Today I found myself
    Distraught
    By the jumbled
    Disorder
    Of my thoughts
    I felt a bit
    Dismayed
    And by their obstinate
    Delay
    I was fraught

    FORGOTTEN WORLD

    Eighteen years ago
    I tossed my cell phone
    Into the rubbish container
It was then the I stumbled upon
    A long forgotten world
    A world where beauty rests
    On the petals of flowers
    And skies glisten
    In greens and golds
Where I can close my eyes
    And hear the whispers
    That float along the breeze
    From yesterdays and long agos
That world where leaves greet each other
As they are tossed about the wind
    Where when the rains fall
    The crickets sing
And the palm fronds tap along
    With every raindrop in tune
I am no longer a stranger
    To that once forgotten world
    We now exist in homeostasis
Because I am no longer distracted by
The rubbish I tossed in that ole container

    DISORDER

From the moment our eyes met
I was all out of sorts
    My mind lost it bearings
    And my emotions their support
    My internal sign flashed
    "OUT OF ORDER!"
As if I had been stricken
    With a nameless disorder
    I could not even
    Formulate a thought
Because the essence of my soul
    Was confused and distraught
    Not by grief
    But by the sheer splendor
    Of your brazen masculinity
    To which I surrendered

    NUMB

    I can't imagine
    What it would be like
    To feel nothing at all
I fear if I felt nothing
    My heart would shrink
    And eventually stall
    To feel nothing
    Would be an affront
    To my sensitive soul
    For it is always
    In need of
    A gentle cajole
    To feel nothing
    One must be okay
    With being comfortably numb
    Assuredly, if I felt nothing
    A monster I'd become

    SOUND OF SILENCE

    To some
    The sound of silence
    Is deafening
    Because they cannot find retreat
    From the thoughts that move
    About their minds
    Like the scampering of feet
    They run from the silence
    In hopes of hiding
    From the blade of self-talk
    That is nagging and chiding
It is silence they find frightening
They prefer the distraction of noise
    They cannot comprehend
    The beauty of silent joys
    That come from deep within
When one gets to know oneself
It is like reading from the book of life
That has been place upon a shelf

    DAYZ

Sunday is that start of the week
    The day of Holy Sabbath
    The one day of which
    In rest I do lavish

    Monday mornings
    I hit the snooze
    Until I smell Bustello's
    Café a-brew

    Tuesday is a curious day
That I can't quite figure out
Why are people so short tempered
And like to scream and shout

    Wednesday is my favorite day
It’s the day they call the "hump"
Cause the weekend will be here
In a hop, skip and a jump

Thursday is just one of those days
That I just can't wait to end
Cause the weekend will be here soon
And my sprit's on the mend

Friday is the day in which
I do not hit the snooze
Cause by 5 o'clock I hit the bar
    To drink a little booze

    Saturday is strictly set aside
Because I am a kid at heart
    From my favorite cartoons
The Louds, SpongeBob and Patrick Star
