    in this lifetime

    If I could live
    A thousand lifetimes
    In each instance
    I'd choose you
But not even in this one life
    Have you ever chosen me
Seems you had places to go
    And other things to do
Though I gave you my heart
    And laid down my soul
    You walked away
    Without looking back
    Unconcerned with my feelings
    Or my dismantled heart
    Or how into my body
    My soul I'd repack
    Not even in this lifetime
    Have you ever chosen me
    So, in this lifetime
    I'll set me free
    I'll go places
    And do things
    I'll live out my dreams
I'll spread my wings and fly
           Signed,
           The Final Goodbye

    SWEET BABY GIRL

    Sweet baby girl
    Who wouldn’t hurt a fly
    Stayed in a relationship
And as the years went by
He beat her and he beat her
    Into submission
    Now she has a condition
From which there is no remission
    She talks to people
    Only she can see
    And has conversations
    From A to Z
    My sweet baby girl
    Who wouldn’t hurt a fly
    To your former-self
    I say goodbye
    I say hello to
    Your new form of being
    And embrace the world
    Only you will be seeing

    BEHIND THE GLASS

    I was the clown
    Behind the glass
    I don’t want to sound
    Brutish or crass
    But those days are over
    You can kiss my ass
    From east to west
    And west to east
    I will no longer be
    Just a piece of meat
    To be groped or ogled
    As if on display
    I am not today's catch
    Or this evening's entrée

    CONTENT

I am closing the door on
    Hidden truths
    And family lies
    Unrequited loves
    And soul ties
    Yesterday's fears
    And broken hearts
No more down in the dumps
I'm making a brand new start
    Better days lie ahead
    With skies clear blue
    I may even make space
    For love anew
    But as for now
    I'm content
    In the silence of solitude
    For which God
    Has so graciously sent

    COME BACK TO ME

    There goes my heart
    Running away with him
    Heart,
    Come back to me
    Heart,
There are things you can't see
    And things you don’t know
    Or can even comprehend
    He is heartbreak
    And he is deceit
    He'll write you checks
    Without giving receipt
    Heart,
    Come back to me

    LOST TO YOU

    Don’t call me!
    Don’t text me!
Don’t check to see how I'm doing!
I am lost to you now
    So, don’t come looking
There is no amount of searching
    That you could ever do
    To find me again
I am as lost to you
As Livingstone is lost in the heart of Africa

    THE ECHOES

    When woe arrives
    She instantly seeks sanctuary
    In the secret chambers
    Of her soul
    Where the only sounds
    To be heard
    Are the echoes of
    Self-love:
    "You are kind!"
    "You are smart!"
    "You are beautiful!"
    "You are strong!"
    "You are daring!"
    "You are worthy!"
"Keep being the best you that you can be!"
"God only made one of you. You are a one-of-a-kind unique!"

    Fool

    Was I such a fool
    To love a man
    Who couldn’t love me back?
    Or was he the fool
    Who couldn’t love me
    Because of his insurmountable lack?

    a dreamer’s paradise

Paint me skies in hues of gold
    And sunsets of emerald green
    Paint me a world
    With heart-shaped fishes
    And rivers that brim
    With hugs and kisses
    Paint me dreamer's paradise
Where coconuts walk hand in hand
And jellyfish leave their prints in the sand
    Paint me a world
    Where Mr. and Mrs. Yeti
    Take summer vacations
To get away from the snow
And the cold of Mount Evie
And meet up with Mrs. And Mr. Squatch
    Who is a big baller
    That loves a Rolex watch
    Why sure this sounds silly
    But a dreamer can dream
    Of just about anything
Even skies laden with hues of gold
    And sunsets of emerald green
