    IN THE CLOSET

In shadows deep where secrets hide,
A heart confined, no room to stride.
A silent cry, a whispered fear,
    In the closet, dreams unclear.

A world outside, so bright, so free,
Yet locked within, a plea to be.
The weight of masks, the heavy sigh,
    In the closet, spirits lie.

But courage grows, a steady flame,
To break the chains, to own one's name.
From closet's dark, a dawn so clear,
A life reclaimed, without a fear.

    THE MOON AND THE DARKNESS

In the dance of night, the Moon's allure,
A love affair with Darkness pure,
    Embraced beneath the twilight's gleam,
Their silent bond, a whispered dream.
In shadows deep, the Moon finds grace,
A celestial love, a tender embrace,
For in the cloak of night's embrace,
Their romance blooms, a sacred space.

    Darkness, like a velvet shroud,
Wraps 'round the Moon, devoutly vowed,
To shield her from the Sun's harsh light,
And keep her safe throughout the night.
But in the depths of lunar glow,
    Darkness finds its gentle flow,
A canvas painted with silver sheen,
In the quiet moments in between.

The Sun, a distant, burning fire,
In daytime's blaze, he does inspire,
Yet, in the night, he takes his leave,
As Moon and Darkness softly weave.
Their love, a tale of ebb and flow,
In skies above, they softly glow,
    A cosmic bond, forever bound,
In silence deep, their love is found.

So, let the Moon and Darkness dance,
In whispered sighs and mystic trance,
For in their love, we find our own,
In the quiet spaces, love is sown.

    A Gospel Singer’s Lament

    The choir rose
    And she sang "Jesus"
    The Word reverberated
    In my chest
    Her lament heard
    East to west
    And she sang "Jesus "
As we laid Big to rest
    And she sang "Jesus"
    And the Spirit
    Filled the room
    And she sang "Jesus "
    And like a sonic boom
    My soul shifted
    Like the stone
    From Jesus' tomb

    DOUBLE-MINDED (10.18.21)

    How can one love wholly
    With one foot in
    And one foot out
    Where one day rains love
And the next day's a drought
    Try if I will
    I will never understand
    The inner makings
    Of a double-minded man
Who is either unwilling to bend
    Or make up his mind
    Maybe because
    His heart is maligned
    From the bruising of
    Mistrust and misuse
    That he only comprehends
    Dysfunction and abuse

    POUR INTO ME

    Pour into me
    Until my cup overruns
And I will pour into you
    All of my passions
    With quality time
    Fill my tank
    And touch me as if
    My curves reside
    In your memory bank
For that is my language of love
    And I will so reciprocate
    Whether it be coincidence
    Or whether it be fate
    That us two should meet
    Along life's journey
    Like bees
    Let's make honey

    FIRST SIGHT

In one brief glance, a universe unfolds,
As eyes meet eyes in swift, electric dance.
A silent spark ignites, a story told,
In love's embrace, two souls find their chance.

At first sight's touch, a symphony begins,
A melody of hearts in perfect tune.
In whispered words and soft and gentle grins,
Two paths converge beneath the golden moon.

The world stands still, as if in reverence,
For love's enchantment knows no bounds or fears.
In that one moment, fraught with such pretense,
Two fates entwine, amid the joyous tears.

Oh, love at first sight, a wondrous flight,
Where souls collide in passion's sweet delight.

    SPARK

    Without a word spoken
    The silence was broken
    Between two unsuspecting souls
A spark was lit and energy flowed
    With synchronicity
As if they had existed in concentricity
    In some other spatial time
And once again the stars aligned
So that again the two should meet
    Oh, what a remarkable feat

    CONSTANT

    Thirteen blue moons ago
    I settled within myself
    To walk away
    From love unrequited
I remember that night so vividly
    That night I said goodbye
    The bitter-sweetness of my tears
The deep ache in my heart
    I've come to realize
    Over the years
That I only said a physical goodbye
    Because my love
    For you has not waned
    Or dissipated
    It has remained
    The one constant
Amid years of heartbreaks and heartaches
I keep thinking that one day
    I'll get over you
    But I don’t think I ever will
Maybe somewhere on the other side of life
This love for you will cease
    Until then,
    This constant remains

    BLIND LOVE

    In love's embrace
    The world turns
    Blind to sight
    Bound by the heart
    Not reason's guiding hand
    Through rose-tinted eyes
    We journey in the night
    Unraveling mysteries
    In love's sweet land
    No sight of flaws
    No shadows can we see
    Enthralled by passion's
    captivating grace
    In love's warm glow
    We lose our clarity
    Entranced by dreams
    That time cannot erase
    Yet love's blindness
    can lead us astray
    Veiling truths
In a cloak of sweet desire
    We stumble, lost
In the maze of the day
    Caught in the flames
    Of passion's fervent fire
    Though blinded by love
    We find our way clear
    Guided by hearts
    That hold love dear
