The Smell of Red
Red smells like strawberries
warming beneath the summer sun,
their sweet fragrance floating through the garden
while bees hum from flower to flower.
It smells like crisp apples
fresh from the orchard,
their cool, juicy scent
bursting with every bite.
Red is the smell of roses,
soft petals opening at dawn,
their perfume drifting on the breeze
like a quiet song.
It smells like cinnamon
swirling through warm apple pie,
cherries ripening on the tree,
and raspberry jam
spread across fresh-baked bread.
Red carries the scent
of a crackling campfire,
glowing embers dancing into the night,
marshmallows turning golden,
and smoke clinging gently to your clothes.
It smells like peppermint candy
at holiday celebrations,
a bright, cool breeze
mixed with the warmth of laughter
and happy voices.
If colors could breathe,
red would fill the air
with sweetness,
warmth,
spice,
and adventure—
like a heart beating with excitement,
a sunset glowing across the sky,
and love wrapped in every breath.
