When I Picked Myself Up
When I picked myself up off the floor,
I knew I could not hurt anymore.
I gathered the pieces scattered around,
And found parts of me I thought I had drowned.
I wiped my tears and lifted my head,
Stopped chasing the words you never said.
I learned that leaving can sometimes be right,
That losing your love did not end my light.
I walked from the wreckage, bruised but free,
And slowly remembered how to be me.
You thought I would break when you closed that door—
But I found my strength
when I picked myself up off the floor.
